Sylvia Anthony-McGeachy was born and raised in a small community in Altavista, Virginia. Her elementary school teachers opened her eyes to the world of reading and the power of learning. Mrs. Anthony-McGeachy became a voracious reader and spent countless hours delving into books to learn about the world beyond her community. Her formative years were the beginning of what would be a journey into the profession of education.
Upon graduation, she enrolled at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business. Mrs. Anthony-McGeachy worked for several years in business prior to pursuing her Master of Human Resource Management from the University of Central Texas. Though she found human resources rewarding, Mrs. Anthony-McGeachy was not fulfilled. She soon embraced her passion for education and enrolled in the teaching certification program at Fayetteville State University.
Since earning her teaching credentials, Mrs. Anthony-McGeachy has continued to grow in the profession of education. She has participated in numerous professional development opportunities and specialized trainings, as well as earned a Master of Library Science degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She will graduate May 2016 with a Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University through the Northeast Leadership Academy.
She currently serves as the assistant principal at Martin Millennium Academy in Tarboro, North Carolina.
